Informal Florals

I'm no florist, but when you have some floral scraps left behind and an empty tomato sauce jar....it can be a match made in heaven. I decide to marry the two together. I made a DIY floral arrangement in my living room. I cut the stems and threw them in some water. That tomato sauce jar was on it's way into the trash/recycling canister. A friend said, "You have to remove the tomato sauce wrapper off the jar." I could not bring myself to do that. The colors worked well together and so I did not take that advice. Now, the scene looked very Parisian with the brass Eiffel tower standing shotgun. And..........just  below it I wanted to throw props to my oldest vase in the house.  I picked up this vase at a second hand shop for a few bucks. I purchased some faux floral arrangements at  my local Walmart. I tend to add different colors throughout the year. But, this particular arrangement reflects the Christmas holiday.

Hallo-Fam Time

By Catherine Ratliff Oct. 2017      Spent time with the family indoors this past Halloween 2017. It made for a really different experience. Words couldn't express the evening. Therefore, I will let the slideshow do the talking for us.      We put together some really nice snacks that turned our taste buds into a frenzy. We baked yellow cake with chocolate frosting. We added the word Halloween logo 🎃, on top in an orange delicious and harmonious glaze. I literally heard music to my ears. This earth-shattering cake was served with chocolate and vanilla ice cream.      We also made rice krispie treats. We added blow pops to sweeten up the dish. We were some real SWEET DEMONS that night.     Then I sat on the couch wearing a witch's hat and striped orange and black socks that extended up to the knees. We really created a witchy atmosphere.     It became a movie night. The movie selection was from my f...

An Absolute Fine Eat

I have to eat, right? Yesterday, I chose to eat at a wonderful Japanese restaurant over eating at a pizzeria or one of the most popular fast food chains. We know the ones in which I speak. I just simply was not into a fast chow-down last night. I wanted an establishment that was going to wow the socks off my eyes; some dim lighting with the appearance or the illusion of a fine dining atmosphere. Okay (smile), it was a Japanese/Chinese establishment and it was not illusion; I was seated at a C- shaped dining table with a glossy red wood grain. The table was adorned with  nice champagne glasses and silver place mats, really simple but elegant. This restaurant was called Jacky's Galaxy and Sushi Bar . In an earlier time, I would never have considered a ChinJap restaurant a luxurious venture. However, with it's newly designed location in North Providence, RI, it gives a foodie like me a run for my my money. Times are changing. While munching on my dinner, I couldn't help bu...

New Desk & Decor

3/25/2016 By Catherine Ratliff I do! I did! I will do! Past! Present! Future! These are the three tenses of my story. My new desk shipment arrived from Target. It's a white Classic Parsons desk with an aquamarine blue drawer. I chose white because it is a fresh color; one in which I always refrained from using. The fact is that the color white and I have had a bad history. I go from spilling gravy to meat sauce to coffee on a crisp white shirt. Imagine what I would do to a white sofa or white desk. Well, times are changing. I'm learning to embrace and live on the edge. I bought my new desk online for around $53.00. It was delivered in only a few days. I had to shift a few things around as I prepped for my yard sale. This will be my very first ever. That's a whole other story. So, I am decorating my plain white desk top with rich blues, some greens, and oranges. It's a work in progress since I plan on incorporating more of these favorites colors in the vic...
