LIFE NTERTWINED

By Catherine Ratliff Oct. 2017      Spent time with the family indoors this past Halloween 2017. It made for a really different experience. Words couldn't express the evening. Therefore, I will let the slideshow do the talking for us.      We put together some really nice snacks that turned our taste buds into a frenzy. We baked yellow cake with chocolate frosting. We added the word Halloween logo 🎃, on top in an orange delicious and harmonious glaze. I literally heard music to my ears. This earth-shattering cake was served with chocolate and vanilla ice cream.      We also made rice krispie treats. We added blow pops to sweeten up the dish. We were some real SWEET DEMONS that night.     Then I sat on the couch wearing a witch's hat and striped orange and black socks that extended up to the knees. Look at my son's work. For the class assignment, he constructed a dinosaur, uhem.....a Brachiosauros. Well instead if using standard paint, he thought it would be better as a painting/elementary macaroni project. (All smiles). Yes, indeed, I encourage his creativity and originality. Children are like sponges, they watch you hard at work with your very own passions and decide if they like it, too. It is an actually pretty well designed depiction of a Brachiosauros. Kudos to you for being a clever second grader.

Hi. Inspired by Semi-cooking expert,Sandra Lee, and after many YouTube videos, my son and I have made an attempt to make a cake like professionals make. I am not an expert in baking but I can surely say that I am very pleased with the results. We used. Betty Crocker's Supermoist yellow cake mix, which called for 3 eggs, 1/2 cup of vegetable oil and one cup of water. Once done, we used Hershey's milk chocolate icing.      The purpose of making this cake was for a friend's birthday. So, working from scratch was not ideal since I wanted her to actually eat the cake. Besides, the fancy mixers and creams professionals use on tv was absent. The other reason was that it was a learning experience my son and myself. I was curious on how bakers made their cakes completely round. My cakes tend to come out bevel or lopsided. Still trying to be fun. Here's a few things in my surroundings. I have a dozen of these miniature fuzzy faces on my desk. In fact, the entire office does. We have a very special co-worker who is crafty and she creates these little guys for each holiday. Imagine sitting in front of these guys while working. Kinda makes you laugh, doesn't it?

Dominick and Jayden was invited to a Christmas Party, which was sponsored by their father, at the Olney Street Baptist Church. It was a very warm environment. We met a lot of nice people. It turned out to be a great day because a lot of their holiday gifts were funded by secret Santas. In addition, Jayden's school, Marieville Elementary, dropped a bag of gifts off today. We looove the gifts and we love how nice people are to one another this time a year. Now, if we can get them to be this way all year.....that would be great.

Okay, this is cute. Just a few items on my desk at work. These gorgeous boxes were made by a friend. She just thought them up. She is a crafty individual. So, I have two on my desk and I use them for my office supplies. I gave two other boxes to coworkers and they are using them as well. They had different colors, of course. So enjoy!
